RESCAP intervention in critically ill SARS-COV2 infected patients admitted to ICU has been approved through the Dutch Health Ministry delegated VUmc Medical Ethical Board in a fast track procedure. To date 4 hospitals (3x NL, 1x SG) will participate in the COVID-RESCAP intervention trial , (RKZ Hospital Beverwijk is lead hospital). This clinical investigator initiated study targets to prevent and treat complications from SARS-COV2 infection in patients admitted to ICU and in need of intubation. Previous and current clinical phase 2/3 studies studying RESCAP’s established mechanism of action as gatekeeper in the immune system aims to prevent very similar complications including cytokine storms, capillary leak syndrome, organ failure, SIRS and clotting.
